[www.inewsguyana.com] – Two persons have reportedly died during an early morning smash-up at Coverden, East Bank Demerara.
Reports reaching iNews indicate that the driver of one of the vehicles may have fallen asleep while driving and careened into the path of the oncoming traffic on Thursday, November 26, 2015.
iNews was unable to confirm how many persons were injured in the accident.
The car – a white Spacio – collided with a truck that was driving in the opposite direction.
The body of the front-seat passenger of the Spacio hung over the dashboard of the car while what appears to be a broken bone protruded from his left arm, photos received by iNews showed.
Also in the photos, was the body of a middle aged woman, who was in the back seat of the vehicle. The Guyana Fire Service is on the scene as efforts are being made to extract the bodies.
While the truck sustained minimal damage, the car is badly damaged. iNews will provide an update in a subsequent report.
So sad. My condolences to the relatives and friends of the victims.
