A police officer attached to the Tactical Services Unit (TSU) is now missing and feared dead after a boat he was travelling in, along with other ranks and officials from the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC), capsized today.
INews understands that the group was heading into the Kaieteur Falls area for an “operation” when the tragic accident took place somewhere along the Potaro river.
Commander of Police “F” Division, Ravindradat Budhram, told this online publication that he received information about the boat capsizing a few minutes ago and that he has dispatched policemen to the area to ascertain the facts of the matter.
According to him, a report came in to the police that one person who was on the boat at the time of the incident is dead. However, he stated that he wishes to “verify this information” before publicly commenting on the issue.
