[www.inewsguyana.com] -The West Indies are in the semi – finals of this year’s ICC world T20 after clouting Pakistan by 84 runs today, Tuesday April 1.
Batting first, the regional side seemed tied down by the Pakistani’s never ending spin attack, Chris Gayle making 5, Dwayne Smith 8, Lendel Simmons 31 and Marlon Samuels 20.
However, when Dwayne Bravo and Darren Sammy partnered, the duo punished the bowling, clubbing 46 and 42 not out respectively.
Mohammed Hafeez, Sohail Tanvir, Zulfikar Babar and Shahid Afridi each had one wicket in the West Indies 166-6 total.
In their turn to bat, a pair of duck from Ahmed Shehzad and Kamran Akmal, set Pakistan on the back foot from the get go.
The Pakistani’s seemed to be at sea against the spin of Samuel Badree and Sunil Narine who shared 6 wickets evenly while Krismar Santokie and Andre Russell had 2 each, the Asian Team ending on 84 in 17.5 overs.
Mohammed Hafeez’s 19, Sohaib Maqsood and Shahid Afridi’s 18 each and Sohail Tanvir’s 14 represented the only double figures on the cards for the Pakistani’s.
The West Indies will now play Sri Lanka in the first semi final on Thursday while the Indians will play South Africa the following day.
