The body of 10-year-old Anand Mangroo of Hope Low Lands, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was on Sunday fished out of the Atlantic Ocean.
According to the Police, the child along with his 13-year-old brother Ajay and an eight-year-old cousin Brian, were swimming at Hope Seawall when “a wave lashed” the 10-year-old towards the Hope Koker channel.
The child went down in the water and did not come up.
Ajay shouted for help, but no one went to his assistance.
It is unclear if any adults were around at the time of the incident which occurred at around 16:00hrs.
Police were contacted and began a search for the body..
At 20:20hrs, the child’s body was fished out of the water at Hope Foreshore, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
The body is now awaiting a PME.
