[www.inewsguyana.com] – The body of 49 – year – old Patrick Ramkellawan was fished out of the Pomeroon River on Monday morning (October 14). This was confirmed by officials within the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC).
Ramkellawan, who was a Drill Engineer attached to the GGMC, went missing following a boat collision in the Pomeroon River on Saturday October 12.
He resided in West Coast Berbice with his wife and other family members.
Reports coming out of the area indicate that the boat belongs to the government agency and that it was transporting several persons when it capsized. Information reaching this news agency revealed that several persons were rescued, except Ramkellawan. According to reports, the government vessel was returning from Charity to the Upper Pomeroon.
Meanwhile, a police statement explained that “Patrick Kellawan” and Martin Chappel, 66 years, of Linden were in motor vessel proceeding up the Lower Pomeroon River when it collided with fishing boat. Kellawan fell overboard as a result of the collision.
According to the police, the motor vessel was driven by Edroy Gill, 27 years, of Friendship, Pomeroon.
