The body of a fisherman was earlier today discovered floating in the Mahaicony River by passersby.
INews understands that around 09:45h persons who were frequenting the area noticed the man’s body in the water near his boat and immediately notified the police.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that the man is known to persons in the area and it is believed that he had gone fishing as was his norm.
However, although persons do not know what may have led to the man’s unfortunate death, they are of the belief that he was intoxicated at the time of his demise.
One man stated that if the now dead fisherman had fallen overboard, his intoxication would have prevented him from swimming to safety and by extension saving his own life.
Meanwhile, police officers are still investigating and awaiting the results of his Post Mortem Examination to determine his cause of death.
