[www.inewsguyana.com] –A 51 – year – old farmer was found floating in a canal at Golden Fleece backdam on the Essequibo Coast at around 17:00 hours on Tuesday, January 27.
He has been identified as Khemraj known as ‘Derick’. He reportedly suffered from epilepsy and was a known substance abuser.
According to reports, the Farmer left home for the backdam to check his rice field and while returning home suffered an attack, which made him fall into the canal where it is suspected he drowned.
The man’s daughter, Reshma Khemraj said her grandmother, who lives a short distance from where the incident occurred, raised an alarm after seeing a body floating in the canal.
The police were informed and the farmer’s body was retrieved from the canal and taken to the Suddie Funeral Parlor.
