[www.inewsguyana.com] – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carolyn Rodrigues – Birkette has confirmed that Guyana’s Honorary Consul in Boa Vista, Brazil Leila King, is being replaced over “wrongdoing.”
King is currently on vacation and has denied any wrongdoing. She vowed to let the story unfold before telling her side.
During a press conference, Minister Rodrigues did not get into details, but said that an investigation is underway. When asked if she will replace King, the Foreign Affairs Minister responded in the affirmative.
The Minister said that while the investigation is ongoing, she did find that there was “wrongdoing” and confirmed complaints. King, a Guyanese who worked for many years promoting trade and tourism between Guyana and Brazil, was appointed Honorary Consul in August 2011.
