UPDATED: The Ministry of Public Works has been informed that the bridge is back in operation, on a temporary fix, to facilitate the passage of vehicles even as the teams work to resolve the issue.
[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Berbice River Bridge will be down for repairs for the next 12 hours due to technical difficulties, according to officials.
A notice from the Company explained that the Retractor Span of the Bridge is experiencing technical difficulties and engineers are working non – stop to resolve the problem.
“Management of the Berbice Bridge Company Inc. sincerely regrets that the Berbice River Bridge’s Retractor Span is experiencing Technical Issues. It is Estimated that the delay will be for a further 12 (twelve) hours duration,” the Berbice River Bridge Company said in a notice.
Alternative arrangements have been made for the ferry service to be operational during this period, for passengers. The Management sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience caused.
