[www.inewsguyana.com] – Commander of ‘F’ Division, Senior Superintendent Cortney Ramsey confirmed that the police have not been able to arrest anyone for the beating of Lethem farmer, 52 – year – old Clifton Clement because they are not sure that his death was related to the beating he sustained on October 01.
This he says can only be confirmed by a post-mortem examination, which is expected to be conducted sometime this week.
Police had reported that they are investigating the circumstances of Clement’s death, which occurred at about 01:30h on Sunday October 12.
Police investigations revealed that Clement was allegedly imbibing and was beaten by some men on October 01, in the vicinity of the Takatu Bridge, Lethem. He was admitted to the Lethem Hospital and was subsequently discharged on October 09.
He was treated for lacerations to the head and right side mouth.
The commander was quick to point out that the beating was never reported to the police and it was only on Sunday that the dead man’s sister made the revelation to the Police during questioning.
