[www.inewsguyana.com] –Presidential Candidate of the APNU+AFC coalition, David Granger has promised that if the joint Party is elected to government after May 11, it will be pursuing the development of Bartica as a priority on its agenda and in doing so will be making the community into a town on Independence Day – May 26 when Guyana celebrates 50 years of independence.
At the APNU+AFC unity rally in Bartica on April 26, the Brigadier made it clear that the coalition sees Bartica as a stimulus behind Guyana’s growth and that developing Bartica would essentially mean, developing Guyana.
Bartica is a community on the left bank of the Essequibo River in Cuyuni-Mazaruni (Region 7), at the confluence of the Cuyuni and Mazaruni Rivers with the Essequibo River in Guyana. It is considered the “Gateway to the Interior” and has a population of about 15,000 people.
“On the 26 May, 2016, Guyana will be 50 years old. And Bartica will be a town before 26 May, 2016. You will have your Mayor; you will have your elected councillors; down with the IMC. And you will have a Mayor, and if he does’t fix your lights; if he doesn’t fix your streets; if he doesn’t clean up your garbage, kick him out. Cuyuni-Mazaruni is a sleeping giant and I want to see Bartica the capital of this region; the second largest region in Guyana. The 11 of May is revival time for Bartica. This town is 170 years old. I will make you a town. You deserve to be a town and I will make you a town,” the Presidential candidate told the thousands of persons at the rally.
He said that Bartica remains the key to Guyana’s development and without Bartica, Region 7 would be stagnant.
“It is time you have a highway and the Bartica Potaro road will be a highway. You cannot develop this great region without infrastructure. Infrastructure is investment,” said Granger.
“The first plan is to make Bartica safe. The APNU+AFC will make Bartica safe and secure. The commander of F Division will live in Bartica, not at Eve Leary.”
Development will come. One thing at a time. I think the PPP needs to see the more they do for the people who back the opposition the more they bad talk them. So this time round PPP do lots for the people who vote for you and who will as long as they see development vote for you and stop flourishing the communities that are the PNC strong hold.
Region 7 is the second largest region in Guyana. No administration in the history of Guyana has done anything innovate to transform this region and make its inhabitants independent. Get this, sand and stone quarried in region 7 yet it costs more for a ton of sand or stone at Bartica than it does in GT. Go figure! That’s just one of many examples of backwardness in this country. After 23 years Barticians cannot handle their own affairs and elect their own leaders. Go figure!
Slymongoose. The PPP had promised to make Bartica a town many moons ago among many others but nothing so far. Thank God for the very high gold prices for the past couple of years that helped to rescue some miners and put some money in their pocket. The region 7 is one of the regions with huge potential that has been neglected by the government in favor of regions where they have a strong support base.
The record number of promises the APNU +AFC have already made to the various communities already visited can be compared to that of a wooing male to his uncertain/unwilling girlfriend. I will do this, i will do that. I will give you this I will give you that. I will even take you to the moon to spend our honeymoon.
The opposition should tell the electorate not only what they will do but also where they will find huge sums to finance all of the pie in the sky projects. The people know that politicians would say anything just to get their votes and once done, they are forgotten until the next election. They also remember the dark days of the PNC which is the dominant party in the opposition and wouldn’t forget that easily.
Some may stifle their conscience and say things are bad but they should compare life prior to 1992 under the PNC dictatorship and what they are enjoying now under the PPP/C.
THE GOOD IS YET COME
VOTE FOR THE CUP
PROTECT YOUR GAINS
WITH APNU/AFC
IT’S PAIN AGAIN
yeah sure nonsense
so what you saying Mr Granger is developing somewhere else example the Corentyne is not developing Guyana?
right?
You have to develop all places not make them poor like Forbes Burnham did when you were part of his Government.
