Armed bandits stormed a Chinese restaurant last evening at Portuguese Quarters, Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice, escaping with an undisclosed amount of cash and valuables.
While details of the robbery remain sketchy, INews understands that three men, dressed in black and armed with guns and cutlasses, stormed the Lai Ri Restaurant, demanding cash from the owners.
After relieving the owners of cash and valuables, the men fled the scene through an alleyway directly opposite the restaurant.
The police were contacted and arrived on the scene after the men had escaped. So far no one was arrested for the crime.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
