The two men who allegedly robbed and shot a resident of Henrietta, Essequibo Coast, in the wee hours of yesterday morning are expected to make their first court appearance on Monday to answer to the above-mentioned charges.
This is according to Police Commander of “G” Division (Essequibo Coast and Islands), Kevin Adonis, who told INews that the two men were apprehended by law enforcement officials at the Supenaam and Parika stellings shortly after the crimes were committed.
He stated that around 03:00hrs yesterday (Saturday) the duo is alleged to have robbed and shot Dale Hercules who was said to have been entering his yard at that time.
The two suspects who were donning masks, one of whom was armed with a handgun, relieved him of his jewellery and in the process of executing the robbery the lone gunman shot Hercules to his abdomen. After the shot was fired the two men escaped from the crime scene.
Meanwhile, Hercules was rushed to the Suddie Hospital where he remains a patient. He is said to have undergone a surgery and remains in a stable condition.
According to Commander Adonis, acting on information received and the public’s assistance, ranks swooped down at the Supenaam and Parika Stellings where each suspect was nabbed on board separate vessels (boats).
Collectively, the duo had in their possession an unlicensed handgun with 11 rounds and the stolen articles.
