[www.inewsguyana.com] – Diligent work carried out by ranks of ‘D’ Division led to the arrest of five men, who allegedly tied up and robbed a Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara family on October 22.
The armed robbery was committed on the Sookrams’ Family of 82 Samaroo Dam, Pouderoyen. A police statement on October 24 confirmed that the five persons were arrested and are fully co-operating with investigators.
They are expected to be charged and placed before the courts shortly. iNews had reported that that at approximately 20:30 hrs, five men, one of whom was armed with a handgun and the others with cutlasses, entered the home of 45 – year – old Andy Sookram.
The attackers had tied up the man and other occupants of the house, including 18 – year – old Andrew Sookram and Esardai Sookram, 47 years.
The bandits took away two generators, a weeding machine, eight gold finger rings, two gas cylinders and four cell phones before escaping.
