An overseas-based Guyanese who is presently in the country got the shock of his life when he discovered that his vehicle was broken into and numerous items, inclusive of cash and important documents, were stolen yesterday.
Reports are that Dr Rudy R. Jadoopat was driving along the East Bank of Demerara (EBD) around 14:05h when he decided to park his vehicle in close proximity to the popular “M&M Snackette” near the Demerara Harbour Bridge.
A source explained that the man went to the snackette to purchase a juice and upon his return to the parked vehicle, he realised that a window had been badly damaged as a result of it being smashed into.
INews understands that Dr Jadoopat’s cellular phones, his cameras, important documents and a substantial amount of cash among other items had been stolen from the vehicle.
It is believed that the perpetrator(s) had been inside of another vehicle following him and used the opportunity of him leaving the vehicle to execute the daring daylight robbery.
Law enforcement officials who were notified of the matter promptly arrived at the scene.
INews understands that investigators were able to access security cameras from locations close to where the crime was committed and the video footage is being examined with the aim of narrowing their search for the perpetrator(s).
