An investigation has been launched into an armed robbery attack committed by five males at the RP Service Station located at Triumph Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara (ECD), at about 23:30h. last night.
According to Police sources, five identifiable males, one of whom was armed with a handgun, attacked and robbed pump attendant Dhareswar Budhai, 59 years, and security guard Sheik Hassan, 55 years.
Investigations have so far revealed that the bandits went to the service station in a white motor car and ordered the pump attendant to fill the car’s tank.
During the process, the attackers exited the vehicle and relieved the pump attendant and the security guard of a total of $14,200 (cash), two cellular phones and twelve gas cylinders, filled with cooking gas.
The victims were also dealt several lashes about their bodies by the bandits and locked inside of a washroom at the back of the Service Station.
No arrests have yet been made as investigations continue into the matter.
