[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 29 – year – old Baker of Middle Road La Penitence, Georgetown, was today remanded to prison on a narcotics charge.
Deonauth Beharry pleaded not guilty to the offence, which alleged that on October 1 at Albouystown, Georgetown, he had in his possession 15.9 grammes of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
The defendant was represented by Attorney-at-law, Mark Conway, who requested reasonable bail for his client stating that Beharry was charged with a small quantum.
Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant opposed bail on the grounds of the nature and prevalence of the offence after telling the Court that the prohibited substance was found in the defendant’s pants crotch.
He was remanded until October 9.
