A businesswoman was on Wednesday robbed by four bandits, one of whom was armed with a gun while the others were said to brandishing knives.
According to information reaching this publication, 51-year-old Debbie Atwell, the proprietor of a wash bay located at the public road on Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara (EBD), was robbed of one gold chain valued at $150,000, two gold rings valued at $70,000 and one gold band valued at $100,000.
The woman was reportedly sitting on a chair in her wash bay and was looking into her cellphone, when she felt someone pull her chain from her neck.
She immediately looked up and saw one of the perpetrators with a gun in his hands standing in front her and the three others behind her, all reportedly armed with knives.
They reportedly instructed the woman to remain silent and relieved her of her belongings before making good their escape on foot.
The robbery was reported to the police who are currently investigating the matter.
