INews understands that the 10-month-old baby that was chopped to his head last weekend, was discharged from the Georgetown Public Hospital on Wednesday and is now slowly recovering at home in the care of his mother.
Omar Jones of Lot 70 Independence Street, La Grange, West Bank Demerara, was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital with a chop wound to his head last weekend. His condition was listed as critical.
The toddler was subsequently transferred and admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital. It was reported that an argument ensued between the child’s mother and his 60-year-old grandfather Geewan Sanichar. The intoxicated man who became angry subsequently threatened to chop the child. The mother on hearing this ran to rescue of her child and was also chopped in the process.
Sanichar was subsequently arrested, placed before the Magistrate’s court and remanded to prison.
