[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Opposition, People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) has completed its list of 32 Parliamentarians, according to General Secretary, Clement Rohee; however it is yet to be submitted to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), where it has to be approved and then published in the gazette.
At the Party’s weekly press conference on Monday, June 29 Rohee refused to reveal the names of those chosen and will only state that it is a “colourful” list.
However, reports reaching iNews from top PPP officials indicate that former Finance Minister, Dr Ashni Singh; former Minister of Labour, Dr Nanda Gopaul; Former Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Robert Persaud and the PPP’s Prime Ministerial Candidate, Elisabeth Harper will not be in Parliament.
It is still unclear as to whether former President, Donald Ramotar will be on the list as a Parliamentarian but there are expected to be some fresh faces in the National Assembly from the various regions.
Meanwhile, Rohee indicated that former President, Bharrat Jagdeo has been tipped to be the leader of the Opposition but when questioned by iNews if Ramotar expressed dissatisfaction with this, Rohee said “I am not aware of that.”
“As I have said, time and time again, let’s await the reentry of the PPP into Parliament and then everything will be revealed. We have a package that we have to present; we have to present 32 members of Parliament, one of which will be the Opposition Leader, the Chief Whip and if it comes to that, the Deputy Speaker, mark my words.”
When questioned about the role of Ramotar in the PPP, Rohee said “He is almost on a daily basis at Freedom House, doing work that he considers important to him and the question of his presence of Parliament will be revealed.”
The PPP has already submitted its list of regional councilors to GECOM but Rohee could not say when the National list will be submitted or when the PPP will take its seats in Parliament.
The Party has already boycotted two sittings of the National Assembly.
These are the same clowns that build new schools, hospitals, roads, bridges, keep inflation in check. You and your racist clown friends should pray that we don’t return to the days when the Executive branch controls the Legislative and Judiciary branches of government.
Its called politics, its quite similar to AFC saying they will never join APNU and well we know how thats going.
These are the same clowns that made guyanese life better in the last 23 years. We are now back to stagnation.
Jagdeo has destroyed the good name of Dr & Mrs Jagan.
They trying to do a Putin thing, so next election the most richest former President can run again. He will never be president again, like Putin.
Wish they would do Guyana a favor and stay home. They have enough now to last a life time. As for King jagdeo Guyana had enough of that racist.
The ppp should urgently enter parliament.Duty to the electorate should take priority over party interest. Parliament is the right place to record any objection it may have.
Inews,
You guys need to find the news stories where Jagdeo said he is not interested in holding public or constitutional office, so if he is the Opposition Leader, he should be called upon to explain why he changed his mind in less than six months.
Meanwhile, the PPP has been holding off submitting the names of its MPs because of internal party wrangling over who should be Opposition Leader, and if Jagdeo is the person, the question is whether to go ahead with the submission of names and entry of candidate to Parliament, only to have the magistrate in Berbice find Jagdeo guilty. A guilty verdict for Jagdeo would void his ability to hold any elected or public office.
Any Guyanese who supports the PPP with Jagdeo at the helm does not care about Guyana! Jagdeo is in this for himself! Always has been and always will be!
These people are a bunch of confused clowns!!!
