As the Guyanese nation reels from the escalating crime wave that seems to be plaguing the land on a daily basis, armed criminals have now targeted the Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara area.
A Police source on the West Coast of Demerara told INews that three gunmen, today, stormed a Chinese Supermarket and a neighbouring liquor restaurant at New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, making good their escape with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Reports are sketchy, but INews understands that the robberies took place sometime between 10:30hrs and 11:00hrs this morning when the three bandits invaded the businesses brandishing their weapons and making threats. One of the businesses targeted is said to be a ‘Chinese-run supermarket’ on the southern side of the Vreed-en-Hoop public road. Reports are that a bar next door, popular for selling cheap alcoholic beverages, was also targeted.
INews will bring you more details in a subsequent report.
These thugs in full force… they would not stop until all the indian businesses are closed.
