[www.inewsguyana.com] – Leader of A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), David Granger is calling for an independent judicial inquiry into the alleged rape of 23 – year – old Colwyn Harding by a Police Constable of the Timehri Police Station.
At the Party’s weekly press conference on Friday, January 17, Granger told reporters that the APNU believes that some amount of mischief did take place, as he criticized the gross negligence at the A Division.
“This requires an independent judicial inquiry…unless we put an end to it, there will be a reoccurrence,” Granger told reporters.
Harding and relatives alleged that he had a baton forced up his anus by Police Constable 31 – year – old Devin Mahendra Singh, while in custody in November 15, 2013.
The accused police officer is currently under close arrest, while the others have been transferred to Georgetown. However, Granger is not in agreement with the transfers. He said that this is an old police trick and has since recommended that these police officers be suspended until the investigation is complete.
