[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Police Force says investigations are being conducted into the death of 64 – year – old Thomas Anton, of Kamarang, which occurred at about 11:45hrs on Friday, May 29 at Quimenang River, Upper Mazaruni.
According to a police report, Anton was operating a mining equipment underwater, when it is suspected that he drowned. This is after being trapped under a quantity of loose earth.
Police say the man’s body is at Kamarang hospital awaiting a post mortem examination. Only recently ten miners died and seven were injured after a mining pit caved in at Kowasi Backdam.
