The Police in ‘F’ Division have arrested two prime suspects, in relation to the murder of Reginald Charles, 30, a miner, which occurred at 111 Miles Mahdia, Region 8, on Wednesday morning.
Investigations have revealed that the miner was walking in the vicinity of a night club around 02:00hrs when he got into a confrontation with the suspects, during which he was stabbed to his neck and chest with a broken bottle.
Charles managed to run to the Mahdia Hospital where he succumbed whilst receiving medical attention.
Swift action by ranks resulted in the arrest of the duo.
According to the police, one of the suspects, 24, who hails from Surama Village, Lethem has since confessed to the crime.
Charles’ body is presently at the Mahdia Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The death of charles, comes on the heels of the death of another miner Phillip Cort, 53, of 32 Queen Street, Courtland, Corentyne, Berbice, whose body was found in his tent at Armu Falls Top Landing, Cuyuni, Region 7 about 06:00hrs on Monday, April 03, 2017 with multiple marks of violence.
According to the Police, investigations have so far revealed that about 15:00hrs on Sunday, April 02, 2017, Cort reportedly had an altercation with a male suspect, who is also said to be a miner, over some missing raw gold. Cort was allegedly beaten by the suspect and subsequently died.
Cort’s body is presently at the Bartica Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
A 35-year-old miner of Wismar Hill, Linden has been arrested and is assisting with this investigation.
