The uncle of the 30-year-old Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara (WCD) man who was found dead in his toilet on Monday morning has confessed to strangling the victim.
This is according to Police Public Relations Officer, Jairam Ramlakhan on Monday evening, who further noted that investigators will be completing the case file so that legal advice could be sought as early as today (Tuesday).
INews had reported that Jason Rejendra Lall Hiria, of Sixth Street, Anna Catherina, WCD, was discovered seated motionless on an inside toilet by his grandfather at about 05:30hrs on Monday.
Investigators were able to determine that the killing occurred between 01:30hrs and 05:30hrs that same day, since according to the deceased’s grandparents, Hiria- an alleged alcoholic- returned home at about 01:30h in an intoxicated state.
Upon inspection, the deceased was discovered with marks of violence around his neck and an autopsy revealed that he died from compression injuries to the neck.
The grandparents and uncle were questioned and taken into custody as there was no signs of forced entry into the home.
