According to the Government Information Agency, the civil action filed in the High Court yesterday (Tuesday, October 28) has named the proprietor of the Kaieteur News, Mohan ‘Glenn’ Lall and Editor, Adam Harris as the defendants.
GINA noted that the AG is seeking damages in excess of $10M for libel contained in the headline, $10M for the libel contained in the article and aggravated/exemplary damages in the sum of $10M.
On October 27, Lall handed over to the police, a recording of a conversation between the AG and a senior reporter attached to the news outfit, where the AG allegedly made ‘violent threat’ against Lall and his staff.
The AG has since admitted to the conversation. In the almost 20 minutes recording, Nandlall said among other things: “I told Adam [Adam Harris, Editor, Kaieteur News] everybody don’t have a newspaper to use as a weapon, I told Adam people got weapons. If they continue to attack people like this and they [people] have no way of responding, they will just walk with their weapon into that same F**king Saffon Street office and wah come shall do.”
The AG went on to say: “innocent people got to pay for f**king Paul… I tell you honestly, man to man, that will happen so the quicker you get out of there, the better for you.”
“There is a simpler way of dealing with this situation you know, I tell Glenn already. He knows I have capacity and I know his. I don’t have to go Court every day and issue press statements, I don’t have to resort to those methods…there are far more effective measures to which I can resort.”
Government has since come out in defence of the Attorney General, stating that his integrity remains intact, while members of the Opposition have called for him to resign.
They are always protecting the perpetrators, ,,, you have proff about the hthreatening, illegal or not, lall was threatened. What about when guysuco fired workers innocently without proof and the government accepts it. Giving the ceo all power to do so. Who doyou go to when the ceo of guysuco is corrupt to the bone?

When I saw this grown man cry I did feel sadness in my heart for him, after all he is one of our brothers.
Today that I saw this lawsuit, I now understand what the Attorney General means when he mentioned about weapon and hitting back!
Mr Lall will now be hit in his pocket book if the tide of justice go against him.
