[www.inewsguyana.com] – In a goal scoring fest, the final of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA)/Stag Beer Indoor Futsal competition lived up to the hype as Alpha United emerged as champs on Saturday evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
One goal separated the winners from the losers, yet nine goals were scored between Alpha United and Riddim Squad.
A dazzling display of attacking football by both teams saw Alpha winning the game 5-4 in a tense final.
Travis Grant opened the scoring for Alpha the 10th minute before Dorville Stewart answered with an equaliser in the in the 17th minute.
Stewart scored again in the 18th minute to put his Riddim Squad side ahead 2-1.
Daniel Wilson would then score twice Alpha in the 19th and 30th minutes as the see-saw game continued with Alpha leading 3-2.
Grant easily made it a two goal lead for Alpha before Amos Ramsey of Riddim Squad scored twice in the 35th and 38th minutes to equalise as the game got increasingly tense.
Ronson Williams would score the winner in the final minute of the game to hand Alpha the dramatic win and the title as well as the $400,000 first place cash prize
