[www.inewsguyana.com] – A Lodge resident was today placed on $10,000 bail for the offence of assault, which he allegedly committed against his wife, Shamenn Smith.

Patrick David is accused of cuffing his wife multiple times to her face on November 30 at their Princess Street, Lodge home. He pleaded not guilty to the charge before City Magistrate, Ann McLennan.

The virtual complainant (VC) told the Court that the man constantly beats her.

Bail was objected to by the prosecution after it was cited that he may interfere with the victim since she has no other place to live during the course of the trial.

However, the Magistrate granted bail to David, who was also bonded to keep the peace until the end of the trial.
