An alleged thief, who was reportedly caught after he broke into a Charlotte Street, Georgetown home, and given a sound beating by residents, has been remanded to prison.
Jason Joseph, 21, of Lot 164 Charlotte Street, Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
He pleaded not guilty to the offence, which stated that on August 17, 2016, at Charlotte Street, Georgetown, he broke and entered the dwelling of Orlando Batson and stole one Dragon Touch Tablet valued $25,000 and $142,000 in cash.
The prosecution noted that on the day in question, the defendant entered the house and stole the items, but was later caught and given a severe beating.
He was then handed over to the Police. The case will continue on September 7.
