A 19-year-old, who said he was a sex worker, was on Friday remanded to prison when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer to a charge of robbery under arms.
Godfrey Cox of Princes Street, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on June 20, 2018, at King and Charlotte Streets, Georgetown, while being armed with a dangerous weapon- that is to say, a knife- he robbed David Harvey of $65,000 in cash.
The court heard that on the day in question, Harvey was heading to the Shell Gas Station on Regent Street, Georgetown to pay workers when the accused attacked him, pressed the knife to his neck and relieved him of the cash that was in his pants pocket.
The Prosecution objected to bail based on the serious nature of the offence, and that the accused has other pending matters of similar nature in the Court.
Magistrate Leron Daly refused bail and the matter has been adjourned until July 20, 2018.
