[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 34 – year – old Labourer, Astil Paul of La Bella Alliance, Essequibo Coast was remanded to prison on Monday, February 17 when he appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Charity Magistrates’ Court charged with two counts of rape.
Paul was not required to plea to the charges which alleged that on February 10 he entered the dwelling place of a housewife and had sex with her against her will. It is also alleged that on May 10, 2014, he had sex with another woman without her consent.
Prosecutor Haimraj Ramsewack objected to bail because of the seriousness of the offense.The labourer was represented by Attorney –at –Law, Ms. Yannasen. Paul will make another appearance in court on March 24.
