[www.inewsguyana.com] – An alleged phone thief was released on $75,000 bail, after he was charged with the offence of simple larceny before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
Malcolm Harry pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that between March 15 and April 18, at Stabroek, Georgetown, he stole five smart phones form his employer Quami Sinclair, together valued over $170,000.
According to reports, his employer noticed phones were missing and decided to set a camera to catch the thief. After some time elapsed, the employer reviewed the footage and saw the defendant removing the cell phones. A subsequent search was carried out on Harry, which unearthed two of the missing phones in a bag.
The matter was reported and he was then arrested and charged. Police Prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves did not object to bail and the matter was adjourned to June 1.
