A Haslingston, East Coast Demerara (ECD) man who alleged that he is a cancer patient, found himself slapped with a trafficking charge when he made an appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Tuesday morning.
Sixty-year-old, Edgar Bollers of Haslington, ECD denied that he had 27 kilograms of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking on May 7, 2018 at Haslington.
The facts of the matter were not revealed to the Court.
Police Prosecutor, Gordan Mansfield stated that the case file has not been completed.
As such, the Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan remanded the defendant to prison for him to return on May 29, 2018 at the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court.
According to information received from the police on Monday, an intelligence led operation by ranks attached to the Guyana Police Force’s Narcotics Branch resulted in the discovery of five taped parcels of compressed cannabis in the suspect’s home.
The illegal substance which weighed in excess of twenty-seven (27) kilograms, was reportedly hidden in a freezer of the sexagenarian’s Haslington, ECD home.
