The Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) joins the rest of the world in offering condolences to the family and many friends of the late boxing icon, Muhammad Ali.
“Our Brother Muhammad Ali was indeed an icon in the world of sport, but moreover he was a great ambassador for the cause of Islam. Throughout his career, and even after his prolong illness he always spoke of his commitment to Islam, and his faith and trust in Almighty Allah. He never wavered in showing practically his love for his religion, and his involvement in reawakening and strengthening the spirit of Muslims wherever he went,” the CIOG said in a statement this morning.
The CIOG said it was always appreciative when, in his many TV interviews, he was ready to defend the Islamic way of life, emphasizing the true beliefs of love, tolerance and brotherhood. “His message reverberated around the globe, and caused people worldwide to pay attention to his campaign for peace, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” the local Islamic organisation stated.
“As the CIOG and Muslims worldwide remember this great icon, we pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) shower His blessings and grant our beloved brother Jannatul Firdous. Our condolences go out to all his family members, and pray that Allah (SWT) grant them patience and perseverance at this time of such a great loss,” the CIOG added.
