[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 27-year-old Albouystown resident, who hid under his bed in an effort to evade the police on a drug bust, was on Wednesday, April 15, remanded to prison.
Niezam Osmond made his appearance before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on April 13 at his Cross Street home, he had in his possession two grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
The court heard that the police carried out a search at Osmond’s home at during which the defendant tucked himself under his bed, to avoid them.
He was later caught and a search conducted on his person, revealed the illicit substance in his pants pocket.
The unrepresented man was remanded until April 30, when he will appear before Magistrate Fabayo Azore.
