A Security Guard appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore charged with assault which he committed against a 3 – year – old boy.
Fifty – two year old Andre Williams of 117 Ceasar Street, Agricola East Bank Demerara pleaded guilty to the offence which read that on July 03 at Agricola, he unlawfully assaulted the 3 – year – old, causing actual bodily harm.
He was fined $80,000 or an alternative of three months in prison.
According to the Police Prosecutor; on the day in question, the child was with his father at home playing with a balloon in the yard. The Prosecutor said that the balloon went into the accused yard and as such the child went to retrieve it, when he was confronted by Williams who head butt and slapped him.
The Court heard that an alarm was raised and the child was found bleeding through his nose. The Magistrate said based on the circumstances and the fact that the accused is 52 – years – old; he should have known better and should have dealt with the matter differently. [Royan Abrams]
