Attorney General and Legal Affairs Minister Basil Williams, accompanied by Public Security Minister Khemraj Ramjattan, handed over the controversial Rodney Report to Speaker of the House Dr Barton Scotland, today, within the Chambers of the National Assembly.
The report compiled the findings of a Commission of Inquiry (COI) that was established by former President Donald Ramotar to probe the circumstances surrounding the death of renowned Guyanese Dr Walter Rodney.
The report was first presented to the Government in February after close to two years of public hearings.
Briefly commenting on the contents of the report, the Attorney General pronounced that the findings are flawed.
Williams also disclosed that in light of the fact that the report implicates the People’s National Congress (PNC) in the assassination of Dr Rodney, the Party will soon be calling a press conference to publicly comment on those findings.

Every evidence given to the COI of Rodney was hearsay.Where did he get this alleged `walkie talkie`from?was he a military or para-military individual, who was authorized in those days to use it on the job?Who `doctored` this instrument,to cause it to become so dangerous as a bomb to explode,if that was the alleged thing to have caused his death? These are some questions, that were never ever asked,to determine who were the individual(s)who should be held responsible for Rodney`s death. Why individuals who were brought here to Guyana to testify, were never allowed to?I must come to the conclusion, that this COI was a FARCE.
I totally agree with AG Williams. As far as I am concerned, the COI was a political stint to tarnish the PNC for a criminal act that was never ever proven by this masquerade called a COI.Up to the time,or conclusion of this enquiry,no factual evidence has been produced,to implicate the PNC.I believe, taxpayers hard earned cash was wasted on this FARCE.The PPP has had an agenda to silence and defeat this party, but it stood and continues to stand STRONG under the circumstances. Many individuals were prevented by the COI from giving evidence, which might have made a difference with the outcome.
