[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) has named its official squad to participate in this year’s Carifta Games set for April in St Kitts and Nevis.
The Association has named 12 athletes and four officials to the team, adding an additional three athletes while naming their full complement of officials.
The team will consist of four males and eight females as the AAG aims to place higher than their fourth place finish last year.
United States, based sprinter Brenessa Thompson, triple Carifta gold medalist Cassey George (1500m), sprinter Kenisha Phillips (200m), Claudrice McKoy (3000m), Chantoba Bright (long and triple jump), Natricia Hooper (triple jump), Avon Samuels and Aliquha Powely are the females on the squad.
While the four males are Compton Caesar for both the 100 and 200 metres, while Matthew Mackenzie has been shortlisted for both the 1500 and 3000 metres and new additions, Linton Mentis and Ornesto Thomas.
Yvonne October was named as manager of the team while Julian Edmonds was named as the coach. The two other officials on the team are Linden Phillips and Moses Pantlitz.
