[www.inewsguyana.com] – The police in ‘A’ Division under the command of Clifton Hicken, yesterday [Tuesday, August 05] commenced a five day camp with children from Rosemary Lane [Tiger Bay] and Albouystown on the Linden Soesdyke Highway.

The camp is being supervised by Deputy Superintendent, Denise Fowler who oversees the juvenile operations of the Guyana Police Force.

The children were taken to the camp site for a visit and in addition to DSP Fowler, there are several other police ranks, residents and religious leaders who are assisting with the supervision of the camp.

During the five days, the children will be exposed to practical and theory training in several disciplines including carpentry, craft, art, home economics and career guidance.

At the end of the camp, the children will have a chance to put on display their art and craft products. The Camp Site is secured by numerous armed members of the Guyana Police Force, while boys are separated from the girls.

There are approximately fifty five children taking part in the camp; also providing guidance is former Director of Prisons, Dale Erskine.
