An investigation has been launched into the death of a 9-month-old baby girl who was reportedly left in a locked car on Monday by a young relative.
Dead is Jadel Christian of Williamsbaad Road, Festival City, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
According to the “A” Division Commander Marlon Chapman on Wednesday, the parents of the child have been questioned and released. He noted that up to press time, no one is in custody.
Inews understands that on the day that the toddler met her demise, she had been left in the care of her father.
The man was reportedly playing a game of dominoes with his neighbours, with his baby reportedly within his eyesight, when a young female relative reportedly asked to spend some time with Christian.
Trusting the young girl, the father allowed her to take baby Christian into the back seat of his vehicle. After a while of playing with the child, the young relative reportedly left the baby, locked in the vehicle with all the windows up, to get a drink of water.
However, this online publication was told that the young relative reportedly forgot the baby until hours later when a neighbour inquired as to her whereabouts.
Christian was subsequently found in an unconscious state inside the car. As such, the parents of the baby were informed and after trying for several minutes to revive her, she [baby] was rushed to a city hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
