The Corentyne pensioner whose body was fished out of the Albion Sugar Estate drainage canal on Wednesday afternoon was murdered, a post mortem examination (PME) has revealed.
Ramdai Samnarine, 73, of Lot 695 Number One Road, Albion Berbice, reportedly died as a result of blunt trauma to the head coupled with compression to her neck and drowning.
Samnarine’s body was discovered by a passer-by at around 17:30 just over an hour after the woman left her home to visit a private hospital.
It is not clear whether she went to the doctor’s office before she met her demise. The mother of three lived with her 77-year-old husband to whom she had been married to for some 50 years.
Police are hunting for the perpetrator(s) as investigations into the murder continue.
