Police on Tuesday arrested seven men in connection with the discovery of a storeroom with guns and ammunition.
In a statement, the Guyana Police Force said the intelligence-led operation was ongoing at around 14:30hrs in the city.
Ranks seized one .45 Sub machine gun serial number filed off along with three magazines, one silencer, 120 live rounds of .45 ammunition and one AK 47 magazine in a store room on Church Street, South Cummingsburg, Georgetown.
One of the suspects is a licensed fire arm holder.
Investigations are continuing.
