Police say an investigation has been launched into the fatal accident of a sixty-year-old cyclist of Bagotville WBD, which occurred at about 19:30hrs. last evening on Bagotville Public Road.
According to a Police statement, the cyclist, Clement Skeete, was riding across the road from west to east and ended up into the path of a motor car which was proceeding south along the eastern driveway.As a result of the impact, the cyclist fell onto the roadway. He was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital and later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was admitted but later succumbed whilst receiving treatment.
The driver is in police custody. He was given a breathalyzer test but no trace of blood alcohol was recorded.
