[www.inewsguyana.com] – Twenty – two – year – old Anthony Williams was sentenced to 56 months imprisonment on a robbery with personal violence charge.
He was found guilty of the offence, which stated that on August 26 at Corn Hill Street, Georgetown, he robbed Charles Allen of one artificial Gold Chain, valued $1500 during which he used personal violence to the said virtual complainant (VC).
The trial was conducted before Magistrate Judy Latchman and prosecuted by Police Inspector, Joel Ricknauth. Williams had previously told the Court that the entire incident was a joke and that he and the complainant are friends.
According to Williams, he and Allen once operated a minibus. Williams told the Court that he is a father of two and works in the interior.
The facts state that on the day in question, Williams choked Allen from behind and stole the Chain.
Meanwhile, the Court also heard that Williams was on bail for a robbery matter before Magistrate Fabayo Azore and the victim in that matter never turned up to Court.
