[www.inewsguyana.com] – Seventeen – year – old Dwayne Christopher of Rosemary Lane, South Cummingsburg, Georgetown, was today sentenced to 50 months imprisonment for on a robbery charge.
The trial was conducted before Magistrate Judy Latchman and the matter was prosecuted by Police Prosecutor Joel Ricknauth.
During his first appearance in Court, he pleaded not guilty before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine – Beharry and was remanded to prison. However, during the trial, he decided to plead guilty.
Details of the first charge said on May 1 at Promenade Garden, Middle Street, Georgetown being in company of others, armed with a gun, he robbed Niquan Nester of one gold band valued $80,000, one Blackberry valued $60,000, a gold ring valued $70,000 and $5,000 cash.
The second charge stated that on the same day, also in the company of others, he robbed Kerlyn Isaacs of a Blackberry phone valued $50, 000, one purse and chain valued$11,500.
He was arrested on May 12 with Nester’s phone in his possession. He is presently on probation for two years and the sentence term will run currently.
