[www.inewsguyana.com] – A man was sentenced to 50 months imprisonment by Magistrate Judy Latchman on September 8, 2015 for the offense of causing death by dangerous driving.
The court heard that Seon Adams of Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara drove motorcar HC 2231 in a manner dangerous to the public, causing the death of Fizul Hussain on May 26, 2015 on the Railway Embankment in the vicinity of Bel Air, Georgetown.
He was found guilty as charged after a trial was conducted. He was also convicted for three other offenses, which revealed that he failed to report the accident with 24 hours, failed to stop after the accident and failed to render assistance or take the victim to a hospital.
Adams was also fined $30,000 on each charge. According to the prosecution facts, the victim was standing in the lower parapet, fishing at the time of the accident and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
