[www.inewsguyana.com] – Five persons narrowly escaped death last night (Monday, June 23), when a Ministry of Health vehicle, assigned to the National Tuberculosis Programme- Georgetown Chest Clinic, plunged into a trench while navigating a sharp turn at Walton Hall, Essequibo Coast.
Reports are that the ‘Pit Bull’ Mini bus was proceeding from Charity at around 23:30 hours when the driver apparently lost control while navigating the sharp bend in the road. Eyewitnesses say the bus then hit a tree before plunging into the trench, trapping the persons inside.
One resident known as ‘Chico’ said he heard a loud noise on the public road and rushed out from his home to investigate. According to the resident, he saw the bus in the trench and called on his sons to assist him in rescuing the passengers.
A woman who was in the vehicle suffered a broken foot and serious injuries to her shoulder. She is a patient at the Suddie Hospital, while the driver is in police custody assisting with investigations.
