[www.inewsguyana.com] – Five million dollars will be up for grabs when the National Milling Company (NAMILCO) and the Fruta Conquerors football Club stage their Annual One Love Football Festival.
Top Clubs in Alpha United, Slingerz FC, Santos, Pele, Top 20, Buxton United, Seawall United and others are expected in the mix with $1.2 million reasons to want first place.
The tournament which is into its seventh year will begin on March 23 at the Tucville ground.
During its launch, President of the Guyana Football Federation, Christopher Matthias said that more tournaments like the NAMILCO ones are needed so as to promote growth in the sport.
“We urge every single club in Guyana to embrace as we seek to develop football let me assure you as once this is the posture and the character of every administration at every level at association or at club level, Matthias said.
Meanwhile, Director of Sport Neil Kumar made a comparison between cricket and football in terms of youth Tournaments
“In cricket we have a under 15 tournament we have an under 17 tournament” said the Sport Director.
Second place in the tournament will take home $600,000, 3rd $400,000 and 4th place $200,000.
