[www.inewsguyana.com] – Twenty – seven – year-old Odell Drakes pleaded guilty to two counts of threatening behaviour before Magistrate Judy Latchman on Tuesday, December 3.
The defendant, who is a construction worker, is accused of committing the offence against Trevor Maxwell and Bevon Thorn.
Maxwell disclosed that on the day in question, he excited a shop and was proceeding to his car, when the defendant approached him with a knife and gun and threatened to murder him.
Thorn, the other virtual complainant (VC) noted that he lives in the same area with the defendant and when he visited the same shop to purchase a soda, the defendant said to him: “people like yall have to die.”
According to the complainant, Drakes tried to punch him, but he dodged and subsequently lifted Drakes in the air and threw him on the ground. Drakes in his defence admitted to the offence but told the Court that he was not armed with a gun.
He told the Court that he could not recall what exactly took place since he was under the influence of alcohol.
Drakes was fine $20,000 on each charge with an alternative of 6 months imprisonment.
