A four-year-old child was seriously injured this afternoon after the motorcycle she was on collided into a lantern post.
The child has been identified as Paula Waterman of Lot 53 Norton Street Lodge, Georgetown. Meanwhile, Paul Waterman, the child’s father who was riding the motor cycle at the time of the accident sustained a broken leg.
INews understands that Waterman had picked up his daughter from school and was riding along Mandela Avenue, when the motorcycle suffered a blow-out.
This resulted in the man losing control and slammed into a nearby electricity pole. It is unclear whether the toddler was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Nevertheless, the father and child duo were picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where they received medical treatment. It is understood that the 4-year-old child has been hospitalised.
A four year old should never be on a motor cycle in the first place. There is no recommended size safety helmet for such age group as far as i am aware as a motor cyclist. This father is guilty of putting his child in harm’s way and should be prosecuted once recovered. Prayers for that child, wishing for a full and speedy recovery
